DYM Resources comments on Group III expansion in Russia in Lubes’n’Greases

An award-winning international magazine about lubricants industry Lubes’n’Greases posted an article about Taneco refinery modernization plans with DYM Resources’ comments.

Taneco, owned by Russian 5th biggest oil company Tatneft, is upgrading infrastructure to add 6 cSt Group III base oil to its portfolio – a very popular grade that is mostly used in motor oils for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Taneco refinery is going to start producing this product in 1-2 years. Denis Varaksin, managing director of DYM Resources, says that 6 cSt grade will be sold “like hot cakes”:

“The market has awaited addition of a 6 cSt grade to Tatneft’s portfolio, and that grade is in high demand from both domestic engine lubricant marketers and the export markets,” – Varaksin says.

Global base oils consumption of Group III is growing, while Group I is declining steadily for the last decade. Motor oil manufacturers switch from SN150 base oils to 4cSt and 6cSt Group III base oils or to 100N and 150N Group II alternatives to meet higher fuel economy requirements.

Taneco can produce 90,000 metric tons per year of Group II and 100,000 t/y of Group III base oils. Tatneft has been DYM Resources’ partner for many years for various products. In case you have a demand for Group III base oils 4 cSt please do not hesitate to contact us.
